| | | Editors Comments: California used to be THE haven for motorcyclists in America. Ever since the California helmet laws went into effect, this seems to be no longer the case. Statistics I have heard are that there was an immediate 22% reduction in the number of registered motorcycles in California the year after the mandatory helmet laws went into effect. Additionally, much of the anti-biker legislation seems to originate in California. In a land of smog, traffic snarls, and over population, this drop in the number of motorcycles represents an environmental tragedy. Legislation such as massive emission devices that simply will not work, and anti-modification restrictions have turned California as a beacon of freedom into one of overt oppression. We salute the California bikers who continue to ride their motorcycles and continue to try for biker rights. |

There is much better camping in the area. Even Gunstock is better, but they want an outrageous 5 night minimum. Definitely, chill out in Weirs Beach on Saturday night. My favorite Hotel is in the little town of Lincoln NH (my exact favorite is secret, sorry). For hotels closest to both the races in Loudon and Weirs Beach, choose Loudon, Concord,or Tilton. On the way from NY and CT, stop off at Sturbridge Village on Thursday 6/15. On Sunday 6/18, if you’re heading back to Boston, stop at Hampton Beach and spend Sunday evening in Hampton NH, Seabrook NH, or Salisbury MA. | Sturgis Rally | Campgrounds are definitely the best.
