OCEAN CITY MARYLAND ROCKS! For those of you who are not familiar with the Ocean City area, it is a terrific place to go for a weekend, and there are enough attractions to keep you on the go during a weeklong vacation. Ocean City features a really nice boardwalk, with an amusement park at the south end of it. You can find some one of a kind little shops along the boardwalk, and just about any type of dining. The areas’ specialty is crab. There are also go-karts and many other amusements.
It’s kinda strange when you ride through the beach area to the north of Ocean City. I saw lots of condominiums for sale, and it appeard to be a very good retirement community. Read that, lots of old folks. (Please respect the elders - don’t rev the motorcycles for no good reason). September is a very nice time of year in the Ocean City area. To the south, Assateague is a must. The wild ponies are really cool. If you can’t make it to the DelMarVa Bike Week, consider visiting in July for the annual roundup on Assateague and Chincoteague Island. In mid-September, the water should still be warm enough for swimming and enjoying the beautiful beach. There is an Assateague Island State park and an Assateague Island National Park. Both have awesome camping, although you may have a problem finding a shower that has hot water. Do not pat or feed the ponies. They are wild. In addition to taking the chance of getting bit, you are hurting their survival chances if you spoil them. It is just a short ride from Ocean City to the Ocean Downs Racetrack, at Race Track Rd in Berlin, MD where some of the events will be taking place. See the Interactive Motorcycle Rally Map. One other thing you may want to consider is a 10 day stay in Ocean City, starting with the DelMarVA Bike Week and ending it off with one of the East Coasts’ favorite events, the Sunfest Kite Festival, which happens the following weekend. I have never been to a motorcycle rally in Ocean City before, but have been there often, loved it, and met a lot of Maryland Bikers. They’re good people, so if I can possibly get there, DelMarVa Bike Week here I come! Anyone interested in riding up from North Carolina? |
