TENNESSEE MARINE FAMILY TO HOST MEMORIAL RIDE

FOR FALLEN HEROES SCHOLARSHIP

LEBANON, TN—The Tennessee Marine Family, in association with New Heart Christian Church and two local biker groups will be holding an exciting event that will honor those who have died in service to their country.

The Fallen Heroes Memorial Ride takes place on Saturday, May 30 at 10AM (with a rain date of June 13), and begins and returns at New Heart Christian Church. Proceeds of the benefit support the many projects sponsored by Tennessee Marine Family throughout the year, including the Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund, as well as TMF’s annual Care Package Drives for the troops.

Registration begins at 8:30AM at New Heart, located at 49 Business Park Drive on Highway 109, approximately a half mile south of Lebanon Road. There is a registration fee of $20 per bike, plus $5 if there is a rider. First Bike will go out at 10AM. Lunch provided upon the bikers’ return. Biker groups participating include Bikers for Christ and the Christian Motorcycle Association. Interested riders should contact the Ride Logistics Chairperson and Gold Star parent John Bass at john@tnfallenheroes.org

“It is encouraging to see the initial interest in this ride even while we have been in the planning stages, which will hopefully translate into a great day with lots of riders showing their colors,” Bass said. “So many people, particularly many riders, love and support the troops, and want to honor and remember those who have served and particularly those have paid the ultimate price.

Bass’ son, CPL David Bass, died in Iraq in 2006. “Nothing helps me more than knowing that people remember him and all those like him,” Bass said.

All attending the Fallen Heroes event should plan to stay for lunch, a silent auction, and door prize/raffle drawings donated by several supporting sponsors such as: The Tennessee State Museum, Sam Davis Memorial Association, The Memphis Zoo, The Hermitage, The Nashville Symphony, Brooks and Dunn - Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn and many more.

Complete information can be found on the TN Fallen Heroes Web site at: www.tnfallenheroes.org, or join as a friend on MySpace at: www.myspace.com/tnfallenheroes. Those who wish to be a sponsor, donor, or contribute in some way to the event should contact Event Co-Chairperson Sarah Coast at sarah@tnfallenheroes.org

"Not being a rider myself and planning an entire bike ride has been a challenge,” Coast said, “but I think of all of the young men and women that have given their lives, and my own loss of a very important Marine in my life, and I continue to plan. I can't wait to see all of the bikes lined up with their flags flying. If you can't ride and would still like to help, please contact me.”

The TN Marine Family also asks that both riders, as well as those attending the event, to bring one or several items for their care package drives. Needed items include: AA batteries, white socks, chapstick, foot powder, anti-fungal foot cream (no aerosol sprays). A full list can be found on the Web site at: www.tnmarinefamily.org, as well as information on how to be a sponsor or donor to the Tennessee Marine Family.

“My son received one of these care packages over the holidays when he was in Iraq, and really appreciated the thoughtfulness,” said Carol Harper, proud mother of two Marines. “My daughter has received letters from the TN Marines Family. I am so glad to be a part of this amazing group. TMF is such a supportive family that truly cares about each and every one of our Marines.”

Entertainment for the event will be provided by classic rock-funk band, The Tribe, with proud Marine dad Robert Burns on lead vocals, James Kemp on drums, Cliff McCormack on bass; Lance Hammond on keyboards, guitar and vocals, and Donnie Gregory on guitar and vocals. More information about the band can be found at: www.myspace.com/thetribe1.

Members of the Tennessee Marines Family greatly appreciate any and all support
